About Somali Culture and Integration e.V.
Somali Culture and Integration e.V. (SKI) was established in 2009 by members of the Somali diaspora in Germany who sought to address the challenges of integration, education, and cultural preservation within their community. The organization emerged in response to the obstacles faced by Somali families—particularly youth—in adapting to life in Germany, while also recognising the need to maintain and celebrate cultural identity.
Since its founding, SKI has grown into a dynamic association that combines social support with development initiatives. In Germany, the organization delivers programmes focused on education, youth engagement, women’s empowerment, and intercultural dialogue. In the Horn of Africa, SKI extends its reach to support schools, hospitals, water supply systems, and agricultural projects, ensuring that its work connects diaspora experiences with development in communities of origin.
The association is guided by a strategic framework built around its vision, mission, and core values. Inclusivity, integrity, and empowerment form the foundation of SKI’s actions, shaping the way it engages with beneficiaries and partners. Through collaboration with European networks such as GEDAN and PEDAN, and active participation in Erasmus initiatives, SKI continues to expand its impact, building bridges between societies and fostering sustainable change for Somali communities in Germany and beyond.
